General Description
Responsible for assisting in the coordination and daily operations of the Union College campus food pantries. This position assists in providing staff support for the pantry, maintaining inventory, assisting with distributing and stocking donations/supplies and maintaining the pantry standards and guidelines.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
โ€ข Assist with the daily operation of the food pantry locations on the Cranford, Plainfield and Elizabeth campuses.
โ€ข Responsible for checking students in and out for each visit based on established pantry guidelines.
โ€ข Assist and support any students that visit the pantry.
โ€ข Assists in enforcing food pantry policies and procedures.
โ€ข Oversees the upkeep of the food pantry ensuring safety and cleanliness.
โ€ข Assist with the regular unloading, stocking and storing of food deliveries and donations.
โ€ข Assist in the facilitation of pickup of food donations and orders.
โ€ข Manage the food pantry inventory and report supply concerns to the Coordinator as needed.
โ€ข Provide support for pantry themed programs and workshops including regular produce distributions
Education Requirements
High School Diploma required.
Experience
Prior food service and/or customer service experience is preferred.
Competencies and Skills Required
โ€ข Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the general public, faculty, and other staff members.
โ€ข Commitment to student service and a diverse population.
โ€ข Ability to work independently to perform assigned duties.
โ€ข Ability to take required initiative to solve problems.
โ€ข Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving up to 30 pounds.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
โ€ข This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
โ€ข Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
โ€ข No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
โ€ข Some travel required.
Salary
$18.00 per hour

Terms of Employment
Part-time hours not to exceed 25 per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours (evenings) may be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies
