Job description

Overview: Assembler of school, activity, and commercial buses. 

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Paint Supervisor, the Painter Technician performs tasks required to prep buses for paint. Paint Techs prep school and commercial chassis and bodies. This position requires a strong background and experience in body work. The ability to prime and paint is a plus. This position will inspect areas to be painted to ensure that the finish coat will meet specifications. The Paint Tech inspects his/her work for defects and corrects as needed, and maintains personal safety equipment, paint department tools and equipment in proper operating order. Paint Tech’s must maintain a clean and orderly workspace and be able to operate with little supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Follows prescribed paint department procedures prior to making repairs.

2. Preps and cleans unpainted bus bodies or unpainted external parts to be painted.

3. Checks entire bus body for any defects and makes repairs as needed.

4. Perform body work, sanding, seam sealing etc. as needed.

5. Maintain cleans work area including the paint booth, paint kitchen, spraying equipment and tools used in the painting process.

6. Maintains all personal protective equipment.

7. Assist painters and other team members as needed.

Pay is commensurate with experience

Education and/or Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED

· 1 - 3 years of related automotive bodywork/paint prep experience

· Equivalent combination of education and experience

· Experience in Production, Assembly, or Light Manufacturing desired

Requirements:

· Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision

· Must demonstrate good time management skills

· Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner

· Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution

· Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management

· Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
