Ed Herrington Inc. is currently seeking full-time Paint Sales for the Millerton, NY location. Schedule - Monday – Friday, 7a – 4p, and every other Saturday 7a-3p.

SUMMARY: Provides customer service through direct sale of merchandise by performing the following duties.

  • The primary responsibilities of our paint sales associate positions are to provide customer service through direct sales of merchandise. Paint sales associates are tasked with additional and specialized duties that include giving color consults, paint product selection advice, maintaining equipment and overseeing the paint department.
  • Assist at paint and sales counters, as necessary.
  • Maintain the paint counter, aisles, and inventory daily.
  • Including cleaning, arranging merchandise, stocking shelves, and preparing for re-supply.
  • Offer color matching expertise, color consults and product selection advice.
  • Prepares paint orders to customer requirements. Including invoices, instore pickup, quotations, special orders and/or delivery orders.
  • Display and describe merchandise to suggest selections that meet customer needs.
  • Emphasize selling points of products such as quality and utility.
  • Ensure paint department performs to the expectations of the store manager.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
  • Establish relationships and work closely with customers.
  • Respond to customers’ questions and phone inquiries regarding products/procedures, including problem solving, order taking, product application and sale.
  • Package or bag merchandise according to customer requests and product requirements.
  • Participate in all required product trainings and/or applicable assignments.
  • Confer with customers, store manager and product specialist regularly to meet company needs and resolve concerns.
  • Maintain store equipment. Ensure proper colorant levels and regular maintenance on equipment.
  • All other duties assigned by manager.
  • Greets customers on sales floor and determines make, type, and quality of merchandise desired.
  • Engages customers in discussion about the CORE Product of the Month.
  • Responds to phone inquiries to solve problems, take orders, and sell product.
  • Teams with store management and receiving personnel to maintain overstock areas.
  • Displays or describes merchandise, suggests selections that meet customer’s needs and emphasizes selling points of the product such as quality and utility.
  • Processes customer sales to an annual RSL budget of sales volume.
  • Prepares point of sales slip, quotations, delivery orders or special orders. Wraps or bags merchandise for customer according to customer requests and merchandise requirements.
  • Research new or non-stock products to satisfy customer inquiries, within reason. Uses database to research availability of merchandise and processes orders.
  • Opens and monitors assigned register/till each morning to receive payments for goods sold during workday. Obtains credit authorization as necessary for sales.
  • Maintains awareness of all activities on sales counter/sales floor. Acts as a “go to” person to insure maximum sales and profit from daily operation.
  • Reviews orders for ideas to expand services available to current customers/prospective customers.
  • Performs inventory functions, as necessary.
  • Writes orders and schedules initiation of services.
  • Participates in the “H” Builder initiative through account development and relationship building within the trade area. Contacts prospects to ascertain needs amp; explain features of services, costs and advantages, responding quickly to customer needs with complete, accurate information Progress evaluated by RSL growth amp; effective use of Loop system.
  • Maintains neat and orderly sales and work area and suggest improvements. Merchandise’s area of responsibility, rotating end caps amp; bulk displays for maximum turns and customer exposure.
  • Participates in all required training assignments and trade show attendance.
  • Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.
Supports the goals and objectives of Ed Herrington, Inc. through adherence to company policies, safety guidelines, and work requirements for successful completion of all assignments.

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee will need to frequently communicate with others and must be able to exchange accurate information. Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Frequently needs to lift and/or move items that weigh up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to potential fast paced stressful environment, direct contact with customers, and occasional outside conditions.
