Job description

The role of the Packaging Operator is to perform functions involved in the filling, labeling, packaging and loading of approved manufactured product for shipment.

Additional Information: 

Schedule: Night Shift A Monday - Thursday 8:00pm - 6:30am

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.  

This position is eligible for sick leave benefits, funeral leave, idle holiday pay, and, provided eligibility requirements in the Collective Bargaining Agreement are satisfied, paid temporary employee flex days.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility
  • Operate the de-palletizer and/or pail de-nester
  • Operate computers and other controls that are used as part of the packaging systems
  • Enter data in accordance with the batch slip
  • Insert filter bags and change as necessary
  • Clear filler jams and clean up spills
  • Load lid magazine as required
  • Operate label machines
  • Perform set-up functions such as tank cleaning and label room operations
  • Load boxes and operate case packer
  • Operate lift truck as needed
  • Load outbound trailers accurately and timely
  • Pull samples for QC as required
  • Maintain plant quality standards for package appearance
  • Perform and participate in general housekeeping activities
  • Collect and dispose of generated waste
  • Train others as assigned
  • Compliance with all safety, environmental and health policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations and guidelines, including active participation in SMART, VPP and other safety programs.
