Job description

Flexible Packaging Sales Representative Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of custom flexible packaging solutions serving a diverse range of industries including food, medical, retail, e-commerce, security, and specialty applications. Over the past several years, the company has experienced significant growth, expanding from a small startup operation into a thriving manufacturing organization with a national customer base. The company specializes in custom printed packaging, laminated films, converted packaging products, and specialty bag solutions. With a highly entrepreneurial culture, strong leadership team, and ambitious growth plans, the organization offers a unique opportunity for a motivated sales professional to make a direct impact while building a long-term career path that could eventually lead into sales leadership.
Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new business opportunities within the flexible packaging industry through proactive prospecting, networking, industry research, and cold calling.
  • Build and maintain relationships with food manufacturers, packaging buyers, processors, distributors, and other end users requiring custom packaging solutions.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and prospecting through quoting, negotiation, and account development.
  • Leverage existing company resources, industry contacts, trade shows, conferences, and market intelligence to identify new business opportunities.
  • Work with customers to understand packaging requirements, printing specifications, film structures, laminations, and converting needs.
  • Consult with customers on custom packaging solutions including various bag formats, films, laminates, and specialty packaging applications.
  • Travel periodically throughout assigned territories to conduct customer visits, facility tours, relationship-building meetings, and business development activities.
  • Collaborate with internal manufacturing, operations, and leadership teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline activity, customer information, and sales forecasts utilizing CRM and business management systems.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, packaging innovations, and market opportunities.
  • Generate the majority of new business through hunting and relationship-building activities rather than relying on inbound leads.
  • Support long sales cycles by consistently nurturing prospects and developing long-term customer relationships.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years of sales experience within the flexible packaging industry.
  • Strong knowledge of flexible packaging products, film structures, converting processes, laminations, printing technologies, and bag construction.
  • Experience selling custom packaging solutions rather than strictly commodity or distribution-based products.
  • Understanding of packaging applications within food manufacturing, consumer products, medical packaging, or related industries.
  • Proven ability to generate new business through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and relationship development.
  • Existing industry contacts and familiarity with key decision-makers within packaging markets are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of converted packaging products, including various bag styles, films, laminates, and specialty packaging formats.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable with moderate travel throughout assigned territories, including customer visits and industry events.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and sales pipeline management tools is preferred.
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily within pharmaceutical sales or unrelated packaging segments without flexible packaging expertise will not be considered.
  • Desire to grow within a fast-paced organization, with potential advancement into future sales leadership opportunities.
