Position Overview:

The Kitchen Packaging Specialist is responsible for preparing products for packaging and packaging finished food items from the Production team. This role is also responsible for packaging other bulk items, maintaining adequate packaging inventories, and accurately printing pricing of products for the Prepared Foods Departments and/or other Co-op departments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Weighs, wraps, or packages finished food products, and affixes stickers showing price and weight
  2. Ensures rotation of first made product is sent first to outlets
  3. Communicates information on product level to the Production Manager
  4. Prices product and makes price changes in accordance with standard procedures to reflect cost of goods and margin requirements
  5. May prepare some recipes as needed
  6. Cleans assigned areas to maintain safe and sanitary conditions
  7. Cleans shelves, bins, tables, coolers and floor on a regularly scheduled basis
  8. Washes hands frequently and uses flexible gloves when in direct contact with food
  9. Notifies Production Manager about missing tags and additional PLU needs
  10. Maintains high in-stock levels without excessive back stock
  11. May re-order product from suppliers based on available space and inventory on hand
  12. Adhere to all Co-op policies and procedures including the Employee Code of Conduct
  13. Participate in department meetings and complete all required trainings for the purpose of maintaining Co-op standards
  14. All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Experience and Attributes:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent
  2. Kitchen or Restaurant experience strongly preferred
  3. Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  4. Strong attention to detail
  5. Excellent follow through
  6. Willing to hold self and others accountable

Quality Standards:

Preparation:

Packages food products in allotted time.  Finishes packaging list and cleaning schedule for scheduled shift.

Cleanliness:

Keeps regular cleaning schedule for all equipment. Follows sanitation guidelines, SOP’s and HACCP principles as directed by the Production Manager. Ensure follow through on packaging lists and cleaning schedules for shift/team.

Physical Demands:

Lifting up to 60 lbs. comfortably on a regular basis. Walking, standing for long periods, sitting, keyboarding, reaching, bending, and carrying.

Attendance Requirements:

Monday through Friday daytime hours with flexibility to shift hours to meet demands. Some evenings and weekends required with advanced notice.
