About The Role
On behalf of our client โ a leading global logistics and supply chain solutions provider specializing in international freight forwarding and transportation management โ we are seeking an Associate Global Forwarding Agent (GFA). Our client operates within the third-party logistics (3PL) industry, coordinating the movement of cargo across global supply chains for a diverse portfolio of customers.
In this role, you will help manage and operate the shipment lifecycle for assigned accounts, ensuring customer requirements are met accurately and on time. This is an excellent entry point into the international logistics industry for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, communication-driven environment. As an Associate GFA, you will learn to execute and oversee shipment tasks while building the industry knowledge needed to take ownership of your accounts' success.
Job Description
You will be responsible for executing and coordinating shipment tasks, maintaining data integrity, and facilitating strong relationships with customers, internal offices, agents, and vendors. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain Operational Excellence
- Understand the processes, documentation, and terminology involved in international shipping โ from the time of purchase order issuance through the delivery of cargo.
- Apply basic industry knowledge to respond to customer requests.
- Learn, execute, and coordinate tasks on shipments to meet all customer Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements.
- Ensure a high level of data integrity within shipments, including acknowledgement of shipment details, INCOterms, routing, dates, and documents.
- Learn and understand pricing; complete low- to medium-complexity customer quotes.
Facilitate Relationships
- Communicate clearly, timely, and effectively with customers, internal company offices, agents, and outside vendors.
- Promote a positive working relationship with all team members.
- Understand and learn to leverage the company's network of departments, support teams, and leadership.
Other Activities
- Ensure customer SOPs are maintained and adhered to.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to team and/or country-specific requirements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong communication, prioritization, and multitasking skills
- Proven critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to ever-changing tasks and customer needs
- High level of attention to detail
