Position Overview
Join our team as an Equine Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.

General Technician and Vet Assistant Opportunities
  • In our general technician positions, you will be working with a group of team members within Internal Medicine or Surgery Barn
  • Hours are dependent upon team needs as we maintain 24x7 coverage. We primarily have needs on afternoon and overnight shifts as well as weekend availability.
  • Responsibilities may include patient care via administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient behavior and status, maintaining patient records, collecting samples, and/or assisting with patient handling and maintenance, hospital workflow, admission and discharge of patients, administering oral medications, treatments, and IV fluids.
  • As a General Technician or Vet Assistant, your work location will be primarily in clinic.

Specialized Technician Opportunities
  • In our specialty technician positions, you will be a Doctor or Surgeon's individual tech, or in a specialized area of the practice such as Anesthesia, Theriogenology, or Ophthalmology.
  • Hours are dependent upon the Doctor or Surgeon. These positions are typically day shift (approximately 7AM to 5 or 6PM), but extended availability during the week as well as weekend availability may be needed.
  • Responsibilities include general technician duties such as reviewing patients, administering treatments, preparing medications, fluids, and supplies, as well as administrative and billing responsibilities. As a Doctor or Surgeon's individual technician, you may also have more direct responsibilities in preparing for procedures, surgeries, and appointments.
  • Specialty Technician opportunities will include in clinic and out of clinic responsibilities as you may be required to participate in farm calls or field work.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience with horses (personal experience included within this) is required. We have a preference for candidates who have had prior work experience with horses, or equine technician experience.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • We do not require a Veterinary Technician License or other equine certifications, but they are a significant benefit.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position

Schedule
Schedule will depend upon the position the candidate is selected for based on their experience, availability, and priority needs of the team. Our shifts are generally the following (with some small variation):
  • Day Shift 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • Evening Shift 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm
  • Night Shift 11:30 pm - 7:30 am

Weekend availability is typically needed but can depend upon specific opening. Specific details will be discussed during the interview process.
