Job description

Position: Organizational Development Specialist
Reports to: Leadership and Organizational Development (L&OD) Manager
Department: Human Resources
Purpose: The Organizational Development (OD) Specialist supports the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-wide learning and development initiatives that foster growth, engagement, and performance across Excel Fitness. This role partners with leaders and subject matter experts to create learning content, administer learning systems, and facilitate engaging training experiences that strengthen the Excel Fitness culture and leadership pipeline.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Design & Content Development
    • Design, develop, and maintain learning content, job aids, and eLearning modules using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, or other tools).
    • Support curriculum design for leadership development, performance management, and functional training programs.
    • Ensure all content aligns with Excel Fitness' Core Competencies and brand standards.
  • Facilitation & Program Delivery
    • Facilitate engaging learning experiences (virtual and in-person) across a range of leadership, communication, and operational topics.
    • Support the coordination and delivery of training events, workshops, and learning campaigns across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Learning Systems & Administration
    • Administer learning management systems (LMS), ensuring accurate enrollment, tracking, and reporting for compliance and development programs.
    • Generate reports and analyze completion, adoption, and engagement metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Media & Production
    • Support media and video production for learning initiatives, including filming, editing, and integrating multimedia into training materials.
    • Collaborate with the L&OD Manager to develop engaging digital learning experiences that bring the Excel brand to life. Collaboration & Support

    • Partner with HR, Operations, and other Shared Services leaders to identify training needs and support rollout of organizational initiatives.
    • Provide frontline and back-office leaders with resources and tools to support consistent learning experiences across all regions.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1-3 years of professional experience in training, learning and development, or organizational development required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organization Development, Communications, or related field preferred. Equivalent related work experience or combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in a fitness, hospitality, or retail customer-facing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Hands-on experience with LMS platforms (UKG Pro Learning preferred).
  • Experience using eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.).
  • Familiarity with media production tools (Canva, Premiere Pro, or similar) a plus.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other employees at all levels across various departments.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, fax machines and phones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. Under the Regulations, Part 541, an exempt Team Player is one who is not entitled to the minimum wage or overtime pay protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This position may work outside of normal business hours to include evenings and weekends as needed to complete job responsibilities and/or when traveling for business.
Travel: 15% travel is expected for this position. Must be willing to travel based on company need to all locations. Overnight trips may be necessary.
