Job description

Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the orderly participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team. The surgical services orderly performs direct and indirect perioperative nursing tasks for patients having surgical procedures. The primary focus of this position is patient transporation, maintenance of selected O.R. supply levels, and O.R. sanitation, strong emphasis on sterile and aseptic techniques. The surgical services orderly performs all tasks in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care, meets hospital continuing education requirements, upholds nursing services philosophy and objectives, contributes to organizational effectiveness, and demonstrates career growth and development. The surgical services orderly takes assigned call including weekend shifts on a rotating basis with no more than 30 minutes response time.

Education: High School Diploma or GED 

License/Certification: BLS (required)
