Job Description:

Position Summary

Under the leadership of the assistant director and/or charge nurse, the orderly is responsible for performing routine cleaning duties, handling equipment, and setting up operating rooms which include, but are not limited to: terminal cleaning of all operating room suites on a scheduled basis; managing operating room equipment coordination and set-ups for various procedures; assisting nursing staff with operating room turnover between cases to optimize case/utilization; assisting nursing staff with lifting, positioning of patients, and movement of heavy equipment; and assisting as a back-up Orderly to pre- and post-op areas to perform non-patient care duties as needed. Performs duties according to the policy and procedures of CHOMP and the department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of work, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations.

Experience

One year Nursing Assistance and Orderly duties in an acute care hospital or free-standing ambulatory surgical center preferred. Knowledge of materials management, stocking, and inventory processes helpful. Must have basic computer skills.

Education

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.
