Job Summary
We are seeking to add an experienced Optometric Receptionist, Technician or Optician to join our team! The position is considered full time, but hours can vary based on the doctor's schedule. New team member will begin training at our front desk to learn our computer system and policies. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) checking in patients, gathering insurance information, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments, checking out patients, taking payments, etc.  After this position is mastered, cross-training as an assistant will occur. This would involve pre-testing patients for the doctor and performing additional testing as needed. 
As an optician in our office,  you will speak with patients to learn about their lifestyle and needs, take measurements, and help them pick out eyewear based on their specific requirements. You will also help them learn about their new products, explain pricing and insurance coverage, and follow all HIPAA and confidentiality regulations closely. Opticians in our office must be able to use a manual lensometer, enter and process orders efficiently, maintain inventory and displays properly, keep an organized workspace, etc.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional attention to detail, a team-minded attitude and the ability to work conscientiously without being preoccupied by your cell phone. This is a MUST.

Responsibilities 
  • Meet and talk with patients to learn their needs for eyewear
  • Make suggestions on frames, and assist patients in choosing the best option for them
  • Take facial measurements to ensure a perfect frame fit
  • Prepare specific orders for the ophthalmic lab 
  • Explain pricing, insurance, and payment options to the patient thoroughly
  • Operate under all HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
Qualifications
  • Previous optician/optometry experience desired
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong customer service skills
