Prior front desk experience in an ophthalmology or eye-care practice is REQUIRED. This is not an entry-level position.

We are looking for an experienced professional who already understands the unique demands of an ophthalmology front desk and is comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment.

The right candidate will have hands-on experience with medical insurance, insurance verification, patient scheduling, collecting copays and deductibles, EMR/practice-management systems, and the daily workflow of an ophthalmology practice.

Nextech Practice Management and EMR experience is strongly preferred.

What Youโ€™ll Do

โ€ข Verify medical insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient coverage

โ€ข Accurately enter and maintain patient insurance and demographic information

โ€ข Understand and communicate patient copays, deductibles, and financial responsibilities

โ€ข Collect copays, deductibles, outstanding balances, and other patient payments

โ€ข Schedule and coordinate ophthalmology appointments

โ€ข Register and check patients in and out efficiently

โ€ข Manage a busy physician and provider schedule

โ€ข Answer and manage patient telephone calls professionally

โ€ข Work within our EMR and practice-management systems

โ€ข Communicate effectively with physicians, technicians, billing staff, optical staff, and other members of the practice

โ€ข Maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

โ€ข Provide patients with a professional, welcoming, and polished experience from the moment they contact our practice

REQUIRED Qualifications

Applicants must have prior ophthalmology or eye-care front desk experience.

We are specifically seeking candidates with experience in:

โ€ข Ophthalmology or eye-care practice operations

โ€ข Copays, deductibles, and patient financial responsibility

โ€ข Patient scheduling and registration

โ€ข EMR and practice-management systems

โ€ข Handling a high-volume medical front desk

โ€ข Professional patient communication

Nextech experience is a significant plus.

Candidates with only general receptionist, retail, or non-medical customer-service experience will not meet the experience requirements for this position.

The Person Weโ€™re Looking For

Beyond experience, we are looking for someone who is:

โ€ข Professional and polished

โ€ข Exceptionally organized

โ€ข Dependable and punctual

โ€ข Personable and patient-focused

โ€ข Detail-oriented and accurate

โ€ข Comfortable discussing insurance and patient financial responsibility

โ€ข Able to multitask without losing attention to detail

โ€ข Confident communicating with patients, physicians, and coworkers

โ€ข A strong team player

โ€ข Interested in becoming a long-term member of our practice

Why Join OPTX Rhode Island?

This is an opportunity to join an established ophthalmology practice with an experienced clinical team and a strong commitment to exceptional patient care.

We value employees who take pride in their work, understand the importance of the patient experience, and want to be part of a professional, collaborative practice.

Interested?

If you have direct ophthalmology front desk experience and are looking for your next opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and make sure it clearly identifies your ophthalmology/eye-care experience, insurance experience, and EMR/practice-management experience.

Experienced ophthalmology candidates only, please.
