Job description

JOB TITLE: Hybrid Technician Trainee
DEPARTMENT: Service
REPORTS TO: Service Director
BACK UP: Hybrid Technician Trainee
STATUS: Non-exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform repairs as outlined on repair order (RO) in accordance with dealership and factory time allowances and standards.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunctions with units/
  • Examine RV unit to determine if additional safety and/or service work is required.
  • Work with service advisor to update RO's for any additional work that needs to be completed.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain parts availability and price.
  • Save and tag all parts when service job is under warranty OR if requested by customer.
  • Responsible for road testing vehicles when required.
  • Ensure all work performed is documented accurately and completely.
  • Install customer purchased accessories, as required.
  • Attend manufacturer-sponsored training classes.
  • Mentor technician helpers with any repairs they are assigned to complete.
  • Report defects and malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely and follow company procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all federal, state, and local regulations that affect shop operations, such as handling and disposal of hazardous waste, OSHA, and use of safety and health personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and personal workspace.
  • Coordinate with service manager and/or service advisor to ensure items on due bill were completed prior to customer delivery appointment and orientation walk-thru.
  • Inspect unit for cleanliness/detailing prior to customer orientation appointment.
  • Ensure all customers receive the orientation folder with a thank you letter from La Mesa RV, important phone numbers, warranty information, tips & hints checklist and recommended service schedule.
  • Perform walk-thru of units with customers; explain key items in the unit, how to use them and how to handle malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with scheduling customers first service appointment prior to them taking delivery of unit.
  • Keep accurate and legible records.
  • Adhere to all company policies, SOP's and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all quality, safety, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Service Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires ability to safely operate equipment.
  • Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings.
  • Requires ability to hear, speak, read and write.
  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items between 20 and 55lbs often.
  • Requires ability to walk and stand for 8 hours or more at a time.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders and stairs of various heights on outside and inside of RV units.
  • Requires ability to hear and speak and frequently hear and speak in very noisy environments.
  • Requires ability to work in varying extreme hot, cold, and wet temperatures and conditions.
  • Requires ability to sit and drive RV's and/or forklifts when necessary.
  • Requires ability to work in tight spaces (under/in units) often.
  • Requires ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.
