Visitor Operations Manager

Do you have experience of working in Country Parks or Leisure management? Are you commercially focused with experience of managing budgets, safety and delivering high standards of customer service? Can you lead and motivate large, multidisciplinary teams? We are looking for a Visitor Operations Manager to lead the team here at Rutland Water.
In this key role you'll manage all day-to-day aspects of park operations ensuring all teams within the park work to common objectives and maximise visitor enjoyment by maintaining excellent standards of service, facility, interpretation, site presentation and promotion. You'll be commercially focused and implement and maintain processes to achieve operational efficiency and develop opportunity for increasing visitor numbers and income generation.
Rutland is Anglian Water's largest reservoir and provides clean water to the surrounding area. Joining us initially on a 1 year fixed term basis you will manage all day-to-day aspects of the 7 day week operations at Rutland Water Park, located a few miles from Oakham in Rutland.
What you'll be doing as our Visitor Operations Manager:

Within this operational role you'll ensure your team, including; Retail, Catering, Activity and Ranger Services, and Volunteers within the Water Park work to common objectives.
Carry out training and development, recruitment and manage performance of teams on site
Maximise visitor enjoyment by maintaining excellent standards of service and site presentation and quality of offer

Using our Safe and Well Management system administer the land, water, facilities, and services to maintain full compliance to current health and safety standards.
Monitor the condition of park buildings and infrastructure and prepare and deliver an annual capital maintenance program to improve and maintain safety, security and condition.
Implement and maintain processes to achieve operational efficiency
Develop opportunities to increase visitor numbers and generate income.
Meet the needs of our visitors while maintaining the SSSI status of the site by working in partnership with The Wildlife Trust.

In partnership with our events manager develop and deliver our annual programme of events.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Educated to diploma or higher ideally in a leisure, countryside, or business management discipline
  • Experience working in Parks or Leisure management or similar related area
  • Experience of managing and motivating a large, multiskilled team
  • Proven experience gained leading/managing successful commercially focused operations
  • Experience of managing budgets and implementing and monitoring financial controls
  • Experience in delivering high standards of customer service
  • Ideally industry qualifications in customer service and visitor safety
  • There will be some travel involved around the area we serve, you'll have access to company vehicles whilst in the Park, therefore you'll need a full driving licence. If successful in your application, the status of your driving licence will be checked.
