Job description
Work Schedule: Day shift, Monday-Friday Additional hours as needed
Travel required between hospital sites
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between laboratory services and hospital executive leadership
- Partner with hospital leaders to align laboratory operations with organizational goals
- Participate in executive meetings, hospital committees, and operational reviews
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple hospital laboratories
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and applicable regulatory standards
- Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation across sites
- Monitor laboratory performance including turnaround times, quality metrics, and productivity
- Analyze and present data to leadership to support decision-making and operational improvements
- Lead process improvement initiatives and drive operational efficiencies
- Support implementation of new technologies, instrumentation, and laboratory systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance patient care and service delivery
- Mentor and develop laboratory managers and staff
- Ensure all laboratory operations follow company policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- ASCP or equivalent certification
- 7 years or more of experience in clinical laboratory operations
- 3 years or more of leadership experience in a laboratory setting
- Experience working with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience managing laboratory operations, staffing, and workflow
Preferred Qualification
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)
- 1 year or more of experience in a Laboratory Director or Administrative Director role
- 2 years or more of experience supporting multi-site or hospital-based laboratory operations
- 1 year or more of experience presenting data and operational metrics to leadership
- 1 year or more of experience leading process improvement or strategic initiatives
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) such as Epic Beaker
- Experience supporting instrument implementations or system integrations
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
Additional Job Standards
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state regulations
- Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships with hospital partners and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to travel and adjust schedule based on business needs
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
