Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Director to join our team supporting multiple hospital partnerships in the Portland, OR region.
Work Schedule: Day shift, Monday-Friday Additional hours as needed
Travel required between hospital sites

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between laboratory services and hospital executive leadership
  • Partner with hospital leaders to align laboratory operations with organizational goals
  • Participate in executive meetings, hospital committees, and operational reviews
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple hospital laboratories
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation across sites
  • Monitor laboratory performance including turnaround times, quality metrics, and productivity
  • Analyze and present data to leadership to support decision-making and operational improvements
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and drive operational efficiencies
  • Support implementation of new technologies, instrumentation, and laboratory systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance patient care and service delivery
  • Mentor and develop laboratory managers and staff
  • Ensure all laboratory operations follow company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • ASCP or equivalent certification
  • 7 years or more of experience in clinical laboratory operations
  • 3 years or more of leadership experience in a laboratory setting
  • Experience working with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience managing laboratory operations, staffing, and workflow

Preferred Qualification
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)
  • 1 year or more of experience in a Laboratory Director or Administrative Director role
  • 2 years or more of experience supporting multi-site or hospital-based laboratory operations
  • 1 year or more of experience presenting data and operational metrics to leadership
  • 1 year or more of experience leading process improvement or strategic initiatives
  • Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) such as Epic Beaker
  • Experience supporting instrument implementations or system integrations
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

Additional Job Standards
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state regulations
  • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to build relationships with hospital partners and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to travel and adjust schedule based on business needs
