Job description

Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The Financial Aid Operations Coordinator performs the following functions: Financial Aid Operations and Transmittals - coordinates and processes financial aid transmittals and related documentation to support accurate and timely disbursement of federal, state, institutional, and external aid programs.

This includes reviewing eligibility, enrollment status, and credit-hour loads to ensure each disbursement aligns with regulatory, programmatic, and institutional requirements. The position conducts pre- and post-disbursement reviews of individual student financial aid files, identifies discrepancies or errors, and works with the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. Veteran Benefits Coordination - administers Veterans Affairs education benefits in accordance with federal law, VA guidance, and institutional policy.

Processes initial and ongoing VA certifications, enrollment changes, and adjustments for eligible chapters. Monitors regulatory updates, implements procedural changes as required, maintains accurate VA records, and serves as a knowledgeable point of contact for student veterans and eligible dependents regarding enrollment status, benefit usage, and reporting requirements. Compliance and Audit Support - Supports compliance with federal Title IV, VA, state, and institutional requirements through routine and targeted audits of student financial aid records.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations, prepares documentation for internal and external audits, responds to audit inquiries, and collaborates with compliance-focused staff to resolve findings and strengthen internal controls. Detailed tracking and documentation practices are maintained to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Collaboration and Process Improvement - The Financial Aid Operations Coordinator works collaboratively with the Associate Directors Financial Aid Operations and Compliance, and Counseling staff within a shared leadership structure to support a consistent, compliant, and student-centered aid process.

The position contributes to the development and refinement of procedures, checklists, and internal controls related to transmittals, VA processing, and file audits, and participates in training and cross-training to remain current on regulatory requirements. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's degree or higher At least two years of professional experience in financial aid, accounting, financial services, or a related field Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education.
