We are building the systems that make this business scalable and consistent, and we want an economics-minded analyst to help build them.

You will work directly with our Director of Operations and leadership team. You will learn how a premium healthcare management operation creates value, how it measures whether it is working, and how it builds systems that make consistent excellence possible at scale. You will build things that remain in the business after you leave.

What You Will Build

  • The weekly business scorecard the five numbers that tell leadership whether the company is on track
  • The operational playbooks and SOPs documented processes that make every service line replicable and scalable
  • The Leapsome HR infrastructure org charts, competency frameworks, onboarding checklists, and training modules
  • The KPI attribution model connecting marketing inputs to revenue outputs

What You Bring

  • Economics, business, or related undergraduate major, ideally pre-graduate school
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to work independently
  • Genuine curiosity about how businesses operate and how they grow
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A desire to understand business at a level that goes beyond the classroom

  • A portfolio of real, live operational systems built inside a growing company
  • A deep working knowledge of the scalable operating framework used by some of the fastest-growing businesses in the country
  • The ability to articulate business value, operational efficiency, and systems thinking in any professional or academic context
  • A professional reference from healthcare operations leadership with 20+ years of experience
  • An ongoing part-time remote role

About Ascend

Ascend is a South Florida healthcare management company that drives growth, optimizes service delivery, and builds the operational and innovation systems across its portfolio of Medicare and Medicaid home health agencies, care management services, and healthcare training, serving Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Position Overview

Ascend is seeking a Business Operations & Strategy Analyst to support the build-out of the measurement, documentation, and HR systems that enable the organization and its managed entities to operate consistently, scale efficiently, and make data-driven decisions. This is a working role with direct exposure to leadership and real operational decision-making. The analyst will gain hands-on experience in business model development, operational systems design, performance measurement, and HR infrastructure inside a real, growing organization with active clients and measurable outcomes.

The analyst will begin with a structured orientation to the Ascend management model and the service categories delivered across its managed entities before transitioning into system-building responsibilities. Throughout the engagement, the analyst will work alongside the Director of Operations to refine and document the operational playbooks and fulfillment engines, contributing directly to the strategic and operational work rather than observing it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the weekly scalable operations scorecard, tracking the five core business performance metrics and presenting findings in the Monday leadership meeting
  • Develop the KPI attribution model connecting marketing channel activity to lead, client, and revenue outcomes
  • Assist with building the Leapsome HR infrastructure, including org chart, role competency frameworks, onboarding checklists, and initial training module content
  • Work with the Director of Operations to understand, refine, and convert operational playbooks and fulfillment engine frameworks into written Standard Operating Procedures for all three service categories
  • Identify process inefficiencies and submit documented improvement proposals with root cause analysis and projected measurable impact
  • Participate in the weekly scalable leadership meeting as a contributing analyst, presenting data and recommendations, not observing

Qualifications

Required

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate economics, business, finance, or related program
  • Strong quantitative and analytical reasoning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage independent work and deliver results on a consistent schedule
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or equivalent data organization tools

Preferred

  • Coursework in operations management, organizational behavior, microeconomics, or strategic management
  • Exposure to CRM, HR, or project management platforms
  • Prior professional, research, or entrepreneurial experience
  • Interest in healthcare services, service business operations, or growth-stage companies

Compensation and Benefits

  • $20.00 per hour - 10 to 20 hours per week
  • Start date: May 2026
  • Hybrid schedule - Hollywood, FL; remote flexibility coordinated with supervisor
  • Mentorship from experienced healthcare operations and business leadership
  • Ongoing part-time remote continuation following the summer term
  • Professional reference upon successful completion of the engagement

Learning Outcomes

Candidates who complete this engagement will have built and implemented real operational systems inside a growing company. By the end of the summer term, the analyst will have demonstrated competency in operational measurement, process design and documentation, HR infrastructure development, and strategic business analysis with a portfolio of live deliverables that reflect each capability.

Ascend is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
