Job description

The Americas Operational Resilience Department enables Mizuho to effectively manage business disruption risks and ensure the continuity of critical services. The team supports regulatory compliance, client protection, and market stability by embedding resilience across both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.The department operates across two integrated pillars:
  • Resilience Transformation, including strategy, framework design, regulatory remediation, and capability development
  • Resilience Operations, focused on execution, testing, reporting, and event readiness across Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management, and Key Business Services (KBS)
The team partners closely with business lines and corporate functions across the Americas and plays a central role in regulatory programs, governance forums, and cross-pillar initiatives.The Operational Resilience Associate supports the execution and continuous improvement of Mizuho Americas' Operational Resilience program, working closely with stakeholders across resilience pillars. The role spans core resilience pillars, including business continuity, disaster recovery, technology resilience, third-party resilience, and data resilience.The Associate is a key contributor of the Operational Resilience Program and responsible for managing discrete workstreams, developing program deliverables, and tracking remediation activities to support delivery against regulatory expectations and internal governance commitments. The role also contributes to enhancing program transparency through reporting, metrics, and performance tracking of resilience activities.This position is well-suited for candidates with experience in financial services risk, Operational Resilience, or BC/DR who are seeking to build deeper exposure to enterprise-wide resilience programs and cross-functional execution.Key Responsibilities
  • Support a portfolio of Operational Resilience initiatives across Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain core program deliverables, including policies, procedures, standards, and playbooks supporting resilience capabilities.
  • Build and manage remediation plans arising from testing, assessments, and regulatory reviews, including action tracking, escalation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with business, technology, and corporate stakeholders to drive timely delivery and ensure alignment with the OR framework.
  • Support resilience testing and exercises (e.g., Tabletops, BCP, DR, scenario-based testing), including preparation, execution tracking, and follow-up remediation.
  • Prepare executive-ready materials for senior management and governance forums, including status updates, dashboards, and regulatory submissions.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Operational Resilience framework, standards, and governance practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • ~5 years of relevant experience in financial services risk, Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, or Disaster Recovery.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and corporate and investment banking operations.
  • Familiarity with Operational Resilience frameworks, including governance, scenario testing, recovery planning, and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects, including planning, stakeholder coordination, and execution tracking.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory expectations, including:
  • BCBS Principles for Operational Resilience
  • U.S. Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC guidance
  • PRA / FCA requirements
The expected base salary ranges from $119,000.00. - $185,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
