Job description

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the HIM Operations Supervisor and Operations Team Leader, the Health Information Management (HIM) Operations Associate is responsible for the timely processing of the patient records by ensuring receipt of all records; reviewing records for quality, identifiers, and preparing documents for scanning. The Health Information Management (HIM) Operations Associate will also scan and index records, verifying data integrity with the highest level of quality possible.  The Health Information Management (HIM) Operations Associate will coordinate information with the Master Patient Index and patient registration modules.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Collect and prepares documents for scanning (pt identifiers, remove staples).
  • Reviews each electronic image with the hard copy to confirm image quality, appropriate order, and rotation.
  • Indexes the image to the correct encounter, document type (delete/ add/ replace/ revise). 
  • Monitor work queue(s) daily and ensures timely processing of all assignments in the queue(s).
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
     
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
PREFERRED:
  • Previous experience in a hospital medical record department or similar medical office setting
