The Goddard School of Cary Lochmere located at 2385 Kildaire Farm Road Cary, NC 27518 is looking for a highly organized, proactive, and technology-savvy Preschool Operations Coordinator to join our administrative team.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys keeping a busy preschool organized, solving problems, supporting teachers, and making sure important details don't fall through the cracks.
As a member of our three-person administrative team, the Preschool Operations Coordinator works collaboratively with the Center Director and Curriculum Specialist, with a primary focus on school operations, organization, quality assurance, technology, events, and day-to-day classroom support.
This is not a desk-only position. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable using technology to organize and plan, coordinating a school event, solving an operational issue, and being present throughout the school to understand and support classroom needs.
You will be joining an established team with strong staff retention and many long-term educators. We value the experience and knowledge of our teachers and are looking for someone who can build positive, respectful working relationships while providing consistent operational support.
Nurture your growth. Empower your success Join our welcoming community, where you can grow professionally while helping create an exceptional experience for children, families, and teachers every day.
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily School Operations: Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the school, including staffing flow, classroom coverage, breaks, transitions, supplies, technology, and other operational needs.
  • Opening & Closing: Share responsibility with the administrative team for opening and closing the school on a rotational basis, ensuring the school is prepared for a safe and successful start and end to each day.
  • Classroom & Staff Support: Maintain a consistent and visible presence throughout the school. Conduct regular classroom rounds to identify needs, address operational concerns, and support teachers and classrooms.
  • Organization & Follow-Through: Manage multiple daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities; maintain effective systems for tracking tasks and deadlines; and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance: Support quality assurance processes, classroom operational standards, required documentation, safety practices, emergency preparedness, and licensing readiness.
  • Technology & Administrative Support: Use technology confidently and efficiently to organize school operations, prepare professional materials and communications, maintain information, and support administrative projects.
  • Events & Family Experience: Coordinate the planning and logistics of school events, family activities, staff initiatives, and special programs from preparation through completion.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative: Anticipate needs, recognize issues before they become larger problems, determine appropriate next steps, and take ownership through resolution.
  • Administrative Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Center Director and Curriculum Specialist while demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and respect when working with children, families, and an experienced team of educators.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is naturally organized, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced preschool environment.
The ideal candidate:
  • Takes initiative and can work effectively without constant direction or reminders.
  • Has strong follow-through and consistently completes responsibilities on time.
  • Can determine what needs immediate attention, what can wait, and how to keep longer-term responsibilities moving forward.
  • Enjoys being active and visible throughout the school rather than spending the entire day behind a desk.
  • Notices details and proactively addresses needs and potential problems.
  • Is technologically confident and able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, digital calendars, shared drives, spreadsheets, forms, and similar productivity tools.
  • Can create clear, professional school materials and is comfortable using tools such as Canva when needed.
  • Communicates professionally and confidently with teachers, families, and the administrative team and is comfortable providing clear operational direction when needed.
  • Values collaboration and knows how to build positive, respectful working relationships with experienced educators.
  • Can shift priorities when the needs of the school change without allowing other important responsibilities to fall behind.
  • Works well independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative administrative team.

Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in early childhood education, school administration, operations, or a related environment preferred
  • Experience working in a licensed early childhood setting strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, technology, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and follow tasks through to completion
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal day-to-day direction
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of an administrative team
  • Genuine commitment to creating a positive experience for children, families, and teachers
  • Must be able to participate in a rotating opening and closing schedule
  • Must pass required state background checks and meet applicable state education, experience, and credential requirements
  • Compensation: $42,000-$50,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

This Role May Be a Great Fit If You
You enjoy creating order out of a busy day. You naturally keep track of what needs to happen next, are comfortable with technology, notice when something needs attention, and get satisfaction from seeing a task or project all the way through.
You are comfortable moving between people, classrooms, technology, planning, and problem-solving throughout the day and understand that supporting a preschool means being present and engaged throughout the school.
This position may be a great next step for an experienced Lead Teacher, Program Coordinator, Administrative Coordinator, or early childhood professional who has strong organizational and technology skills and is interested in expanding into school operations.
If you are proactive, dependable, organized, and ready to become part of an established school community with an experienced team of educators, we'd love to meet you.
Compensation: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
