The Outreach Support Specialist will play a key role in expanding the Library's reach and visibility across the Auraria campus community. This position supports the Library's outreach, promotions, marketing and communications efforts, working closely with the Outreach and Engagement Program Lead Librarian, the Marketing and Communications liaison, the Outreach Team, and other library staff to engage students with library services, spaces, collections, and events.

Outreach Support Specialist
What you will do:

Outreach Logistics and Campus Partnership Support 

  • Support the Outreach Team with logistical needs for outreach activities, including responsibility for monitoring and ordering outreach supplies.
  • Assist with set up and tear down, and custody of tabling support equipment.
  • Coordinate with student organizations, departments, and campus offices on logistics for co-sponsored programming 
  • Assist with preparation of summary reports on outreach activities
  • Serve as the library's point of contact for external groups interested in tabling in the library 
  • Conduct library tours for campus and visiting groups
  • Support tabling events across campus, representing the library at orientation, resource, and welcome week events, as well as other campus partnership activities.

Event and Program Coordination 

  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and successful implementation of library events, including library-wide, campus, and community/donor events in coordination with Library Administration.
  • Manage event logistics such as booking rooms, coordinating venue needs, communicating with catering, library building operations, security, and campus partners
  • Ensure events are posted on library and campus calendars as appropriate
  • Assist with development, coordination, and scheduling of library programming series (book clubs, study breaks, exhibits, etc.) 
  • Support the library purchasing process through the payment and reconciliation of relevant, approved expenses and other assigned expenditures such as candidate meals related to the hiring process.

Social Media and Marketing Support 

  • Coordinate library social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, partnering on a content calendar, engaging with followers, and growing the Library's online presence across platforms.
  • Ensure that social media, published content, announcements/newsletters, and displays are engaging, representative of users, and adhere to campus and university visual standards.
  • Produce high-quality promotional materials across print and digital channels.
  • Maintain and update signage, displays, and handouts, both in the library and on campus.

Assessment, Statistics, and Reporting 

  • Record event attendance. 
  • Administer post-event surveys and compile results. 
  • Prepare regular statistical reports for the Outreach and Engagement Program Lead Librarian and/or library administration. 
  • Maintain assessment data files and track trends over time. 

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in event coordination, marketing, communications, social media management, or a related area.

Substitutions: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis in a directly related field OR one of the following below:

  • 2 years of experience in a directly related field AND a conferred Associated Degree in a related field 
  • Relevant student/para-professional employment will be considered on a Part Time basis (for example, 4 years of student employment is equal to 2 years of professional level employment for substitution calculations) 
  • Additional related certifications and in-direct qualifications will be considered on a case-by-base basis by the reviewing search committee

Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in a library, higher education, or other academic environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with social media administrative platforms (Meta for Business, Hootsuite, etc.) and experience with graphic design tools.
  • Experience with event planning, outreach campaigns, or promotional content creation in a professional or volunteer capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of event coordination principles and outreach communication methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media management platforms, tools, and best practices for audience engagement.
  • Skill in creating visually engaging promotional materials for both print and digital distribution.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and digital design principles.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for audience engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to represent the Library professionally to diverse campus and community audiences.
  • An enthusiasm for connecting people with information and resources.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required for library events, campus programs, and outreach activities.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of the library.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements 

  • The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work.
  • Moves equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $58,031 - $64,150.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. 
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. The University of Colorado Denver provides generous leave, health plans and retirement contributions that add to your bottom line.
