Job Title: Ocean Import LCL Specialist
Industry: Freight Forwarding / Logistics
Location (city, state): Franklin Park, IL
Assignment Type: Temporary until end of 2026
Pay: $25 - $30 / hour
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch

The Franklin Park office is a smaller team of approximately 14 employees, providing a collaborative and close-knit work environment. The organization has a global presence with more than 2,000 employees worldwide.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import LCL Specialist to oversee international ocean freight shipments from initial booking through final delivery. This position will manage the documentation, coordination, tracking, and customer communication required to successfully move Less-than-Container Load (LCL) imports.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of hands-on Ocean Import LCL experience, strong knowledge of U.S. import procedures, and excellent communication skills. Stability in previous employment is important, as the team is looking for someone interested in a consistent and reliable work history.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of LCL ocean import shipments, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery.
  • Work with international agents, steamship lines, CFS facilities, customs brokers, and transportation providers to coordinate cargo movement.
  • Review and process import paperwork such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, arrival notices, and delivery orders.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, cargo availability, warehouse activity, customs clearance, and final-mile delivery.
  • Keep customers informed regarding shipment progress, arrival dates, delays, and delivery requirements.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information within logistics and transportation management systems.
  • Review freight invoices and provide support with billing-related activities.
  • Maintain organized shipment files and provide clear updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Follow established operating procedures, carrier requirements, and applicable U.S. import regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of Ocean Import experience with a strong focus on LCL shipments.
  • Experience managing shipments from booking through final delivery.
  • Working knowledge of customs clearance and U.S. import regulations.
  • Familiarity with ocean freight documentation and international logistics processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated employment stability; frequent job changes are not preferred.
