Job description

House Supervisor

The shifts can be either 8a-4p, 4p-12a, or 12a-8a. The supervisors cover M-Thurs 4p-8a, and Fri-Sun, and holidays 24/7.

Patient Diagnoses: At Unity Hospital, the house supervisor is the leader in house responsible for 311+ beds, including ED, our Family Birth place, Surgical Services, 14 medical surgical units, and a 20-bed ICU. Our ICU charge and providers serve as the RRT and Code Team along with support from the supervisor. We utilize a centralized staffing office with staffing coordinators covering 80 hours/week. We also have an off-shift nurse manager that works 4p-2a - 4 shifts per week to support the building.

Certifications: ACLS, BLS

Skills: Inpatient acute care, MS/Tele, code management, crisis intervention/management, de-escalation techniques, emergency preparedness, facility/bed diversion, managing assaultive behavior, restraints - physical/chemical, internal, death of a patient - documentation and process, discharge AMA, fitness for duty, HIPAA guidelines (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), risk management, sentinel events-monitoring and reporting, customer service, experience managing narcotic diversion, functions as clinical expert resource, incident reporting, infection control, isolation procedures, knowledge of regulatory requirements - DPH, TJC, OSHA, etc., organizational escalation process for facility, starting and maintaining IVs, supervising nursing care delivered on all units organizationally, workplace safety, centralized staffing, experience with productivity standards and staffing requirements, coaching and counseling to performance standards.

Years of experience required: 1 year EPIC required.
