As a nuclear security officer, you patrol an assigned area throughout your shift. When in your office, your duties continue as you monitor CCTV and other surveillance and alarm systems. Your responsibilities also require you to participate in emergency management plans in the event of criminal activity, safety violations, or misconduct. Finally, you control access to the site and write shift reports that include your observations. The minimum qualifications are often a high school diploma or GED certificate, and many jobs require you to have excellent observation and decision-making skills. You also need excellent physical stamina to deal with emergency situations.
