Lowell Community Health Center (Lowell CHC) is a diverse, community-based health care organization. Summary:

The Security & Public Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all staff and patients throughout Lowell CHC. This role works as part of a team to patrol the facilities and monitor surveillance systems. The Security & Public Safety Officer responds to any calls for support from staff and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains security presence with constant walk through of Jackson Street campus locations
  • Responds to emergency calls as needed
  • Deescalate situations quickly and effectively
  • Communicate effectively with local authorities as needed
  • Escorts staff to their vehicles as needed
  • Assists staff as needed in matters of security and safety
  • Notifies Public Safety Supervisor of needs for major repairs or unsafe conditions needing attention
  • Documents security and safety related events as required
  • May be required to work occasional nights and Saturdays
  • Will be required to be on an on-call schedule for afterhours support
  • Performs other job-related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in Security and Public Safety preferred.
  • Customer Service experience required.
  • Bilingual is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking for up to 80% of the work day or shift.
  • Some lifting, pushing or pulling required up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to see and distinguish color.
  • Able to work alone or as a crew member both inside and outside; may be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Work Environment:

Frequent contact with patients, families, visitors,nursesand other department staff.Occasional requests to change work areas to cover another priority area to meet patient needs.Occasional stress and pressure caused by multiple simultaneous demands.May be exposed to various body fluids and/or infectious diseases. Universal precautions and techniques are included in orientation and the availability of protective wear is supported and encouraged when the employee is at risk for exposure.
