Position Overview

We are actively recruiting Armed School Security Officers (SSOs) for the 2025–2026 academic year in and around the Huntingdon County, PA area for the following school districts:

  • Fannett-Metal School District
  • Mount Union Area School District
  • Southern Huntingdon County School District

Ideal candidates will have prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, or military service. While this background is preferred, it is not required. We provide training and professional development for candidates with the right mindset, professionalism, and commitment to student safety.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a visible, professional armed security presence in school buildings and at school-related events.
  • Deterring threats and responding effectively to incidents.
  • Enforcing safety, security, and emergency response protocols.
  • Building positive working relationships with school staff, administrators, and the community.

Not Considered: Applicants with unrelated backgrounds (e.g., nursing, maintenance, hospitality, etc.) will not move forward in the hiring process.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess—or be willing to obtain—the following:

  • Pennsylvania ACT 235 Lethal Weapons Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Federal & State-Mandated Clearances (FBI, PA State Police, Child Abuse)
  • NASRO Basic SRO Certification (or an equivalent course approved by PCCD)
