Position DetailsÂ
Summary/ObjectiveÂ
The Dentist provides dental services within the scope of licensing, training, credentialing, general practice, & utilizing the PCMH model.  The Dentist must meet credentialing requirements for NSHC, as applicable, and must demonstrate dental competency in the area of general practice. Â
Â
Essential FunctionsÂ
Performs quality clinical and radiographic evaluations to diagnose and treat diseases of the oral cavityÂ
Promotes oral health by providing educational information on all phases of preventative and restorative dentistry and oral hygiene Â
Utilizing the PCMH model, reviews and follows all dental clinic protocols, policies, and proceduresÂ
Documents and follows treatment plans that include appropriate preventative and restorative therapy that have been reviewed with patients and informed consents granted prior to rendering treatmentÂ
Manages medical/dental history with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's general health. Â
Addresses all contra-indications pertaining to treatment and identify patient's chief complaint or reason for visit. Â
Maintains the baseline radiographs and any other radiographs necessary to diagnose and treatment plan the case.  Â
Appropriately administer dental anesthesia to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during proceduresÂ
Assist in the training of new dental staffÂ
Performs a rotation of being on call for emergency dental call service as applicable.Â
Prepares reports and other documentation as required.Â
Repairs decayed and broken teeth by placement of various restoration techniques and materials and when necessary, extracts teeth.Â
Utilizing PCMH Care Coordination procedures, refers patients to dental specialists for further treatment, when appropriate, and ensures appropriate follow-up of care plan.Â
Adhere to all federal and government regulations, including the state dental board rules and regulations, HIPAA and OSHA regulations.Â
Attends meetings and training sessions as requiredÂ
Executes other verbal or written specific assigned tasks, requiring similar or lesser skills and abilities, some of which are continuing while others are occasional in nature.Â
