Job description

In the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, we are discovering new knowledge, designing new technologies and preparing biomedical engineering leaders to solve our world's most pressing challenges. As we succeed in our mission, we disseminate hope to all people.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Enter, track, and maintain payroll costing allocations and payroll accounting adjustments for Tenure Track and AGF faculty, PRS, lab staff, and office staff.
  • Monitor department labor suspense accounts and move charges to appropriate accounts.
  • Place and approve orders for department faculty and labs on grant and non-grant accounts.
  • Check account balances to ensure funds are available to make requested purchases
  • Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, travel and expense reports, accounting adjustments, and journal entries following University and Office of Sponsored Programs guidelines.
  • Submit supplier invoice requests, reimbursements, and general expense reimbursements
  • Project Budget Specialist and Manager for multiple faculty start-up accounts; duties include setup and management and establishing internal commitment within Anaplan.
  • Provide purchasing documentation to offices outside BME as needed.
  • Collect all packing slips from labs and other missing documentation for recording/reporting purposes
  • Communicate with vendors on purchasing transactions and troubleshoot orders as needed
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation reports for grants and non-grant accounts each month
  • Collect required documentation and upload it into the Workday system for recording/reporting purposes
  • Provide faculty with summarized account balances monthly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $63,000 - $70,000 per year based on education and experience.
