Job description

Posting is only for students/candidates seeking Texas teaching certification who are currently enrolled in an accredited four year college, university or alternative certification program which requires student teaching.
NOTE: Applications will not be processed until the student's/candidate's program coordinator has submitted an official request in writing via email to studentplacements@neisd.net
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
To obtain the required student teaching / clinical teaching experience for completion of program requirements by a four-year college, university or an alternative certification program.
POTENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF A MENTOR / COOPERATING TEACHER):
1. Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in student learning styles.
2. Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
3. Presents subject matter according to the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
4. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
5. Conducts assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
6. Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
7. Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
8. Be a positive role model for students and supports the mission of North East Independent School District while following the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
9. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
10. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student/Parent Handbook.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
12. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
13. Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
14. Maintains confidentiality of information.
15. Reports to campus on scheduled days and times that are agreed upon by principal, mentor/cooperating teacher. University and/or preparation program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be currently enrolled in an educational program, which requires student teaching
• Alternative Certification Program candidates are only allowed opportunities in critical need areas
• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
• Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
