What is a no experience contract job?

'No Experience Contract' jobs are temporary positions offered to individuals who may not have prior work experience in the field or industry. These roles are designed for entry-level candidates, and employers provide on-the-job training to help new hires learn the necessary skills. Contract jobs typically have a set duration, which could range from a few months to a year, and may or may not lead to permanent employment. Such opportunities are ideal for students, recent graduates, or career changers looking to gain practical experience and build their resumes.

What are the qualifications to get a no experience contract job?

The primary qualifications for getting a contract job with no experience depend on the position, but they usually require a high school diploma and basic computer skills. Some jobs also require additional certifications or passing a test, such as a typing test to gauge the speed and accuracy of your writing. Many contract jobs are skill-based, so the faster you gain experience and demonstrate your skills, the easier it is to stand out from other applicants. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a contract job requires attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to adjust your work based on the employer's feedback. If you plan to start a freelance career, you also need business acumen.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract administrator with no prior experience, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Administrator with no prior experience, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of contract terminology, often supported by a relevant degree or coursework. Familiarity with contract management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are typically required. Effective communication, problem-solving, and a willingness to learn help you stand out as you interact with vendors and internal teams. These skills enable accurate contract processing, risk mitigation, and efficient support of business operations.

What kind of on-the-job training or support can I expect when starting a contract position with no prior experience?

Many organizations hiring for contract roles with no prior experience provide structured onboarding and training to help new hires get up to speed. You can typically expect a combination of formal instruction, shadowing experienced team members, and access to resources or mentors who can answer questions as you learn. It's common for supervisors to set clear expectations and check in regularly to review your progress. While you'll be expected to pick up tasks quickly, most teams foster a supportive environment to help you succeed, especially during the first few weeks.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the project leadership team, the Contract Administrator will support the development, execution, administration, and management of contracts and agreements. This role will work closely with procurement, project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure contract requirements are met, documentation is maintained, and commercial processes are followed.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing multiple contracts and priorities within a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, review, issuance, and administration of contract documentation.
  • Assist with tendering activities including RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
  • Coordinate contract evaluations and support procurement activities with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain contracts, agreements, purchase orders, and subcontract documentation.
  • Support contract lifecycle management including tracking milestones, deliverables, amendments, and closeout activities.
  • Monitor contractor and supplier performance against contractual requirements and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, databases, and documentation repositories.
  • Assist with contract compliance monitoring and ensure alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Support contract change management, including amendments and variations.
  • Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, engineering, operations, and project teams to support successful contract execution.
  • Assist with resolving contract-related issues and supplier inquiries.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams regarding contract administration processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contract administration practices and processes.
  • Provide timely support for contract-related requests and inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, supply chain, engineering, law, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in contract administration, procurement, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting contract development, negotiation, execution, and administration.
  • Experience working within EPCM, construction, engineering, or mining environments is required.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract documentation, and vendor management.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred; experience with Ariba, Coupa, or similar systems is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project environment.
  • Living allowance provided for candidates who are not local to the project site. Schedule arrangements will be determined based on candidate location, project requirements, and overall fit.
