Work EnvironmentOffice settings, labs, or plant floors with supervisionLaboratory and plant floor, hands-on technical work
Employer & Industry UsageEntry-level roles in chemical, manufacturing, or process industriesSupport roles in chemical plants, manufacturing facilities
Common Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding entry points with no experienceTechnical support roles requiring some training

While No Experience Chemical Engineering roles are entry-level positions requiring minimal formal credentials, Chemical Technicians typically need an associate's degree and perform more hands-on technical tasks. Both roles are found in chemical and manufacturing industries, but they differ in responsibilities and required training.

What do no experience chemical engineers do?

As an entry-level chemical engineer with no prior experience, you can expect to start with tasks such as assisting with data collection, performing basic laboratory experiments, supporting process monitoring, and helping to prepare technical reports. You may also work closely with experienced engineers on troubleshooting production issues, conducting safety checks, and learning to use industry-standard software. These responsibilities are designed to help you build foundational skills and gradually take on more complex projects as you gain confidence and technical knowledge.

Is chemical engineering easy to get a job?

Chemical engineering jobs can be competitive, especially for entry-level positions, and often require a relevant degree and technical skills such as process design or safety protocols. Gaining experience through internships or certifications can improve employment prospects, but the field generally demands strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Job availability varies by industry and location, and some roles may require advanced knowledge of chemical processes or equipment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a no experience chemical engineer?

To thrive as an entry-level Chemical Engineer, you need a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Aspen Plus, MATLAB, and basic laboratory instrumentation is beneficial. Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability help you collaborate effectively and learn from experienced colleagues. These skills and qualities are crucial for successfully applying theoretical knowledge to practical projects and advancing in a technical environment.

What is a no experience chemical engineering job?

No Experience Chemical Engineering jobs are entry-level positions designed for recent graduates or individuals who have not yet worked professionally as chemical engineers. These roles typically provide on-the-job training and may include tasks such as assisting with laboratory experiments, supporting process design, or working under the supervision of experienced engineers. They offer opportunities to learn essential industry skills, gain practical experience, and build a foundation for a career in chemical engineering. Applicants usually need a degree in chemical engineering or a related field but are not expected to have previous work experience in the industry.

Job description

This role is for one of our clients
Compensation: $65-$90 per hour
We're building a select group of experienced chemical engineers to help improve how advanced AI systems understand, evaluate, and reason about chemical engineering concepts. In this role, you'll apply your industry expertise to review AI-generated content, answer technical questions, and provide insights that improve the accuracy, reliability, and practical value of AI systems used in chemical engineering applications.
This is a flexible, fully remote, part-time opportunity requiring approximately 10 hours per week, with the potential for ongoing collaboration based on project needs and performance.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated content related to chemical engineering for technical accuracy, completeness, and real-world applicability.
  • Provide clear, well-supported answers and expert feedback based on your professional engineering experience.
  • Recommend authoritative technical references, engineering standards, and industry resources relevant to your area of expertise.
  • Share insights into real-world chemical engineering workflows, process design, plant operations, safety practices, and engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary subject matter experts to improve AI model quality and consistency across technical domains.
  • Identify inaccuracies, ambiguities, and opportunities to enhance AI-generated engineering responses.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
  • 2+ years of professional chemical engineering experience, preferably across multiple areas such as process design, process safety, plant operations, manufacturing, or production engineering.
  • Strong familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), API, and other relevant engineering guidelines.
  • Hands-on experience with process simulation and engineering software such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Experience preparing process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical reports, or engineering training materials is preferred.
  • Comfortable using modern AI tools such as ChatGPT or similar platforms.
  • Based in the United States.
  • Professional-level English communication skills.
  • Able to consistently commit approximately 10 hours per week.
Engagement Details
  • Independent contractor engagement.
  • Fully remote with flexible working hours.
  • Project duration may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on business needs and performance.
  • Weekly payments are made through Stripe or Wise based on completed work.
  • Please note: We are unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
