Job description

RIE is hiring a full-time Chemical Technician at our plating and anodizing facility in Albuquerque. The role of Chemical Technician is a crucial role in supporting the plating and anodizing processes ensuring safety, quality, and precise chemical processing. This position requires a great deal of accuracy, analytics, and problem solving.

Your standard hours will be Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am - 3:30 pm and Fridays 6:00 am - 2:00 pm.  A typical day will include tasks such as:

  • Perform routine checks on chemicals in production using wet chemistry methods (i.e. titrations).
  • Perform routine chemical additions or water additions to maintain production line chemical tanks.
  • Document and track activities with chemical testing and additions.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment system to ensure operation is consistent with quality standards and complying with all local, state, and federal regulatory criteria.
  • Assist EHS initiatives by inspecting, testing, or sampling waste generated by production.

You'll also work closely with the Engineering, EHS, and Quality teams to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve our current processes as needed.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to be very disciplined, dependable, have good communication skills both written and verbal, a continuous improvement mindset, and be focused on safety first at all times.

Minimum requirements to be a Chemical Technician:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working with chemical processing, preferably in a plating or anodizing shop.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, have full range of motion including bending, lifting, reaching, grabbing, twisting, walking, and standing for periods of time.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or currently enrolled in school for Chemical Engineering.
