Job Summary
We are seeking a Chemical Engineer for a contract opportunity in Marlborough, MA. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and hands-on laboratory experience who is interested in filtration, purification, formulation support, and experimental data analysis.
The Chemical Engineer will join a collaborative technical team focused on filtration and metal impurity removal. This is a strong opportunity to build practical laboratory experience, contribute to product quality improvements, support scale-up activities, and develop technical reporting and presentation skills in a supportive team environment with guidance from experienced scientific and engineering professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute laboratory experiments related to filtration, purification, and metal impurity removal.
- Support experimental work used to scale up new raw materials and formulations, troubleshoot production issues, and improve product quality.
- Submit sample test requests to analytical labs and coordinate testing needs.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare results in formats that support team decision-making.
- Present findings in group meetings and contribute to planning and designing new experiments.
- Document work in electronic lab notebook software and internal databases while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized lab environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $22 to $26 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Conduct laboratory experiments focused on filtration, purification, and impurity removal.
- Analyze and organize experimental data for technical team use.
- Document findings in electronic lab notebooks and internal databases.
- Present experimental results and support next-step experiment planning.
- B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred for this early-career Chemical Engineer role.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment required.
- Ability to learn new technical skills quickly and adapt to changing assignments.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and commitment to lab protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including technical reports and presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with flammable or combustible materials.
- Experience with ion exchange resins.
- Experience with membrane filtration.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebook systems or laboratory data management practices.
