Job description

Lead from the front. Stay in the action. Grow into management.

Our local family restaurant partner is seeking full-time and part-time Restaurant Shift Lead in the Scripps Ranch area who are ready to step into leadership while staying fully engaged in the day-to-day energy of the restaurant.

Are you a natural leader who enjoys working alongside your team in a fast-paced restaurant? Do you take pride in delivering great food, outstanding service, and helping others succeed?

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a dependable, energetic Restaurant Shift Lead to help keep our restaurants running smoothly. In this role, you'll work side-by-side with the team to support daily operations, provide exceptional guest service, and help create a positive experience for both our customers and employees.

If you enjoy staying busy, solving problems, and leading by example, we'd love to meet you.

This is a working leadership role, meaning you'll spend your shift actively supporting restaurant operations while helping the team stay focused, productive, and successful.

This is not a management position. While you'll provide direction during your shift and help coach fellow team members, responsibilities such as hiring, scheduling, discipline, performance management, and compensation decisions remain with restaurant management.

What You'll Do
  • Help coordinate daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth, efficient shifts
  • Lead by example by delivering exceptional guest service and supporting fellow team members
  • Assist with front counter service, phone orders, online orders, to-go orders, and delivery coordination
  • Support kitchen operations, food preparation, food quality, and order accuracy
  • Help open and close the restaurant, including completing operational checklists and preparing the restaurant for service
  • Conduct pre-shift huddles to communicate daily priorities, menu specials, and operational updates
  • Train and coach team members on company standards, food safety, cleanliness, and best practices
  • Assist with cash handling, register balancing, and keyholder responsibilities when assigned
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and fully stocked restaurant
  • Communicate guest concerns, inventory needs, equipment issues, and operational challenges to restaurant management
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
What We're Looking For
  • Previous restaurant, food service, or customer service experience required
  • Previous experience as a Restaurant Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor, Trainer, Keyholder, or senior restaurant team member preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest service
  • Comfortable working in all areas of the restaurant, including the front counter, kitchen, food preparation, and dining area
  • Ability to coach and support fellow team members while leading by example
  • Current Food Handler Card or the ability to obtain one before employment
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, opening shifts, and closing shifts
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Competitive pay
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Employee meal discounts
  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement
  • Supportive, team-oriented culture
  • Hands-on leadership experience
  • Join a locally owned restaurant company that has proudly served San Diego County for more than 40 years
What Makes a Great Restaurant Shift Lead?

You're someone who enjoys helping both guests and teammates succeed. You:

  • Lead by example
  • Stay calm and focused during busy shifts
  • Enjoy coaching and supporting others
  • Take pride in providing exceptional guest service
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Step in wherever needed to help the team succeed
Join Our Team

Every great shift starts with great leadership. As a Restaurant Shift Lead, you'll play an important role in creating memorable guest experiences while supporting the team that makes them possible.

If you're ready to take the next step in your restaurant career with a company that values teamwork, quality, and outstanding service, we'd love to hear from you!
