Job description

Senior Relationship Banker 

On-Site | San Diego, CA

Compensation: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour, plus incentives

Actual compensation within this range will be determined by factors including experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and other job-related considerations permitted by law.

As a Senior Relationship Banker, you’ll serve as a trusted financial resource for members by opening accounts, processing consumer loan applications, assisting with real estate lending opportunities, and recommending products and services that help members meet their financial goals. You’ll also provide leadership, mentoring, and operational support to branch team members while contributing to branch growth and success.

What You’ll Do

Member Service & Relationship Building

  • Deliver exceptional service by proactively greeting and assisting members.
  • Open new accounts and additional products for new and existing members.
  • Process and fund consumer loan applications and assist with real estate loan applications.
  • Analyze member needs and recommend appropriate financial products and services.
  • Generate qualified referrals to business partners, including Investments and Auto Loan specialists.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to ensure satisfaction and identify additional opportunities to support member needs.
  • Promote digital banking solutions and educate members on available self-service tools.
  • Resolve account inquiries and conduct account research as needed.
  • Consistently meet or exceed individual and branch sales and referral goals.
  • Participate in branch sales initiatives, community events, and business development activities.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to Tellers, Universal Service Representatives, and Financial Services Representatives. 
  • Provide supervisory overrides and support while helping to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Share best practices and reinforce service and sales standards.
  • May act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of branch management.

Operations & Compliance

  • Prepare account and loan documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Support branch opening and closing procedures, certifications, and balancing activities.
  • Assist with cash, vault, and dual-control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures, banking regulations, and BSA requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of products, services, policies, and industry regulations.
  • Complete all required compliance and professional development training.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a bank, credit union, or financial institution.
  • At least 12 months of experience opening new accounts and processing or referring loan applications.
  • Demonstrated success in sales, referrals, and relationship building.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced member-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real estate lending knowledge or experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Symitar or similar core banking systems.
  • Notary Public Commission or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to obtain Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) registration within one year of hire.
