*Seeking Night Dispatch*
Job Summary:
Ensure all drivers have accurate and timely information so loads can be delivered in a safe and timely manner. Resolve driver issues and communicate with Customer Service, OPS Dispatch, and Dispatch Managers respectively. Update computerized programs with current information. Communicate and dispatch load information to drivers, respond to emails regarding OPS and Night Dispatch, and enter orders as necessary. Primary duties include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Job Duties:
  • Assist drivers with customer service, container dispatch and OPS dispatch matters, including appointment requirements, booking issues, PIN problems, unit unavailability, incorrect ports, overweight units, transload issues, dry van operations, and other operational challenges. Communicate issues and updates to the appropriate departments and affected parties to ensure timely notification and proper resolution.
  • Enter dry van orders, provide updates on transload orders, maintain and update the transload board and OPS board daily, and complete all necessary updates reflecting changes reported by drivers or received through overnight emails. Ensure dispatch information remains accurate and properly documented on the Night Dispatch Log.
  • Dispatch available loads using Import, Export, and OTR spreadsheets to available drivers. Prioritize Last Free Day containers and ensure timely coverage of operational needs. Locate drivers for loads requiring re-dispatch due to breakdowns, delays, or other operational issues. Monitor terminal systems to ensure hot loads are being out-gated and identify alternate driver coverage when needed.
  • Perform additional dispatch and administrative duties as assigned by management, including sending Bills of Lading (BOL), Proof of Delivery (POD), and other requested documentation or information required to support operations and customer service.
  • Assist drivers with over-the-road breakdowns, tire repairs, and equipment-related issues by coordinating support with shop personnel and following company repair policies and procedures.
  • Review pending loads and available driver capacity to ensure adequate coverage, identify potential operational issues, and support efficient overnight dispatch operations. Communicate important changes, updates, and outstanding issues to the Day Shift team to ensure a smooth transition.

Schedule: Friday - Monday, 5:00 PM to 4:00 AM
(Tuesday - Thursday: Off)
Pay: $45,500 (Annualized)
Requirements:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including extensive use of spreadsheets.
  • Must possess excellent telephone communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, with little direct supervision, and at a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to remain calm in high pressure situations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
