Job description

Do you like helping U.S. Intelligence Community agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems? Would you like to do this using the latest cloud computing technologies?
As part of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Network Operations, you'll play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks that support the U.S. Intelligence Community. From the top of rack to the network core and everything in between, you'll work with best-in-class Network Engineers to deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes and drive complex issues to resolution. Using your experience with network and Unix systems engineering, you'll be able to fully own and transform networking projects relating to deployment, implementation, scaling, and/or optimization.
As Network Development Engineer, you'll partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to support an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation.
- Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- The ability to sit in front of computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
- Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.
The candidate selected must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level. Upon start, the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
- Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
- Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF
- Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies
- Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
- Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C or C++
- Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
