About This Role

We believe people should love what they do - in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert on networking technologies and topics to inform design decisions and considerations across Textron Systems' product portfolio
  • Designing private networks at from tactical scale to complex interconnected families of systems
  • Evaluating network and system designs and hardware for feasibility, testability, extensibility, etc
  • Providing network cybersecurity engineering support on both next generation technologies and proven platforms that support and protect our deployed warfighter
  • Collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and customers across engineering disciplines to refine network designs within constraints and develop effective implementations of those designs
  • Maintaining detailed design artifacts and documentation for networked systems
  • Contributing to the efforts of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Support (CSIS) team to support the assessment and authorization of products in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) to achieve an Interim Authorization To Test (IATT) or Authorization To Operate (ATO)
  • Performing advanced testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis on product networks and networking components
  • Willing and able to occasional travel to other locations in support of cybersecurity test activities and network troubleshooting (25%)

Basic Qualifications

       Must have a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity/Networking Engineering/ Computer Science or a related technical field with 8 years' experience

       Ability to obtain a CCNA or equivalent network certification 

       Knowledge of OSI model as it pertains to routing and switching protocols

       Experience in network architecture/planning and documented design

       Familiarity with conformance testing for networks and networking hardware

       Ability to monitor network traffic and provide efficiency recommendations

       Familiarity with engineering design concepts (feasibility, repeatability, testability, etc)

       Ability to task others to complete routine networking tasks

       Experience with network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (software and/or hardware)

       Experience with network equipment from multiple vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc)

       Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems 

       Efficient technical communications skills including technical writing and presentations

       Ability to obtain a U.S. government Secret security clearance
 

Preferred Qualifications

       Current holds a DoDD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01-M IAT II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA or CCNP), and/or other network certifications

       Familiarity with multicast protocols such as IGMP and PIM

       Scripting language experience in at least one language such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python

       Familiarity with Virtual Machines and Hypervisors (VmWare or KVM stack)

       Experience with virtual networking tools (both simulation and software-defined networking)

       Active U.S. government Secret (or higher) security clearance
