Job Description Summary

The Tutor Training Program at Santa Fe College aims to recruit, train, support, and retain qualified personnel to work in concert with faculty and student support staff. The program's ongoing training focuses on creating a culture that encourages continuous improvement for students, tutors, and other staff members.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain an atmosphere of collaboration, trust, and respect.
  • Provide consistent individualized tutoring experiences.
  • Provide tutoring in at least one the following areas:
  • Programming (e.g., SQL, HTML, HTML5, C ++, Python, CSS)
  • Computer Information Technology (e.g., Windows & Linux Operating Systems)
  • Networking (e.g., Computer & Networking Essentials)
  • Security
  • Participate in on-going training and evaluation.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Coordinator

Qualifications

Required: The student tutor must be a currently enrolled Santa Fe College student, in good academic and behavioral standing, and taking six (6) or more credit hours for each semester of hire. Additionally, the student tutor must meet the following:

  • Grade of a B or higher in the subject being tutored AND/OR documented experience equivalent to a grade of B or higher in the subject/content being tutored.
  • All applicants must have completed the below courses for their tutoring area(s):
  • Programming
  • COP 2000 - Introduction to Programming
  • COP 2002 - Program Logic
  • CGS 1820 - Web Authoring 1
  • CGS 2540 - Database Management
  • Computer Information Technology
  • CTS 2327 - Windows Desktop
  • CGS 1060 - Computer Concepts
  • Networking
  • CTS 1131 - Computer Essentials
  • CTS 1134 - Networking
  • CTS 2321 - Linux Administration
  • CET 1600 - Network Fundamentals
  • Security
  • CTS 1120 - Information Security
  • CET 2883C - Security Advanced

Preferred: Tutoring experience.
