Job Description
The TRIO Upward Bound program is funded by a grant from the Department of Education and serves local first-generation and low-income high school students who are committed to pursuing higher education after graduating high school.
Hope College TRIO Upward Bound Office Assistant (Part-Time)The Office Assistant provides administrative and operational support to ensure smooth daily program functions. This role supports communication, student records, and logistics while serving as a key point of contact for the program.
Work Schedule
Academic Year (August-April):
  • ~20 hours/week
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Additional hours scheduled with the Director

Summer Session (May-July):
  • ~20 hours/week
  • Typically Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The Office Assistant provides support of daily programming tasks, including but not limited to:
Administrative & Office Support
  • Serve as the first point of contact (phones, emails, inquiries)
  • Provide information and referrals
  • Assist with printing, copying, and supply orders
  • Schedule transportation and rooms

Student Records & Academic Support
  • Data Entry
  • Distribute academic updates to staff
  • Maintain and organize student files

Program Operations & Logistics
  • Track technology inventory (laptops, iPads, calculators)
  • Support daily program operations
  • Assist with logistics as needed

Communication & Outreach
  • Support social media and communication efforts
  • Assist with outreach materials

Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college experience preferred
  • Bilingual (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Zoom, Canva
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested.
