Job description

Leidos is seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Project Manager who is interested in supporting large information technology projects for our Utility Technologies Solutions team. In this role, you will be driving the execution and delivery of IT projects for our electric utility client. Additionally, you will ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering Leidos' Mission, Vision, and Values.

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and implementing complex large-scale projects to meet organizational goals. This person will maintain the efficiency of important aspects of the project management process such as planning, budget, and risk assessment. The ideal candidate is required to have excellent project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision to implementation involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.

Location: This position is based in Newark, New Jersey. Qualified candidates must reside within a commutable distance and be able to work onsite at client offices three days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct project team, manage cost and schedule, ensure contract compliance, and serve as the primary customer interface.
  • Manage technical scope, cost, schedule, risks, dependencies, and delivery of assigned infrastructure and network modernization initiatives.
  • Lead complex IT infrastructure projects including data center moves, modernization efforts, construction coordination, and enterprise technology deployments.
  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure initiatives involving SD-WAN implementations, router and firewall deployments, wireless access point (WAP) and wireless controller (WLC) rollouts, cloud connectivity, and network segmentation.
  • Coordinate asset inventory management, hardware lifecycle refreshes, and technology replacement programs across multiple business units and vendors.
  • Manage cybersecurity-related initiatives including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), identity and access management, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra projects.
  • Lead telephony and communications projects including VoIP, SIP, and Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) implementations and integrations.
  • Provide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership that engages multidisciplinary teams to respond to evolving business and operational needs.
  • Lead project team members including executives, line-of-business stakeholders, subject matter experts, controllers, schedulers, engineers, and external vendors through the full project lifecycle.
  • Manage project teams consisting of internal staff, consultants, and multiple vendors with both onshore and offshore resources.
  • Drive vendor management activities including vendor evaluation, RFI/RFP development, solution selection, contract coordination, and implementation oversight.
  • Create and maintain project management plans, establish governance processes, execute governance reviews, and ensure adherence to PMO standards and organizational procedures.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, success criteria, timelines, and deliverables.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree with 8+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise infrastructure and network projects including SD-WAN, network segmentation, cloud connectivity, firewall deployments, wireless networking, and data center modernization initiatives.
  • Experience managing infrastructure construction, relocation, or modernization projects including data center moves and technology refresh programs.
  • Experience managing asset inventory, hardware lifecycle replacement, and infrastructure upgrade initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, cybersecurity technologies, and enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience leading telephony and communications projects including VoIP, SIP, and CCaaS implementations.
  • Experience managing cybersecurity-related initiatives such as DLP, CASB, identity/access management, and related enterprise security programs.
  • Experience leading vendor selection and procurement activities including RFI/RFP development, vendor evaluations, contract coordination, and implementation management.
  • Strong project management experience handling project financials, schedules, scope, governance, testing, and resource coordination.
  • Demonstrated planning, integration, scheduling, organizational, and financial management skills.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to brief leadership and influence stakeholders across technical and business teams.
  • Solid understanding of PMO methodologies, project governance processes, and infrastructure project delivery best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Power BI, ServiceNow, or similar project and reporting tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, partnerships, and external networks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent customer-facing, leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and security guidelines where appropriate.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous IT project management experience within a utility or highly regulated industry preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent is preferred
