Position: Full-time School Counselor
Grade Level: Kindergarten through Fourth grade
Qualifications: Valid K-12 Ohio School Counselor license from the Ohio Department of
Education & Workforce
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PBIS, State mandated Socioemotional
programs, College and/or career & life readiness curriculum (e.g., Naviance, YouScience,
SchoolLinks), Knowledge of Ohio's Career Advising Policy, Career Technical Education
(CTE)
Salary:ย Per negotiated agreement
Starting Date: 2026-2027 school year

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

Management/Development:

  • Use data to develop and modify the South Range Comprehensive School Counseling Program to meet the district and school goals.
  • Communicate and collaborate with school administrators, leaders and teachers to achieve goals.
  • Recognize and gather input from all stakeholders to guide the implementation of the school counseling program.

Preventive & Responsive Services:

  • Initiate and facilitate individual and group sessions for students' academic, career, and social emotional concerns.
  • Consult with families and staff to discuss needs and recommendationsย  for student improvement and development.
  • Plan, coordinate, and provide classroom guidance sessions to meet the counseling competencies.
  • Assess student needs and make appropriate referrals to school personnel and/or community agencies.
  • Intervene in crisis situations and participate on the school crisis team.

Student Planning/Extension:

  • Prepare students for the next level of schooling. (Ex. Elementary to Middle School, Middle to High School, High School and Post-Secondary)
  • Plan, collaborate, coordinate, participate in field trips and events to promote career exploration (ex. career fairs), improved attendance, academic success, and social skill promotion.
  • Serve as liaison for students attending school outside of the district.
  • Share information with teachers/staff relevant to school counseling components and their relationship to classroom success.
  • Participate on school leadership teams to provide support to teachers and administrators working towards school and district goals.

System Management

  • Implement the use of the Student Information System (DASL) to build schedules, track grades, and gather data.
  • Utilize testing sites to create test groups, analyze data, and support teachers.
  • Collaborate the PBIS team to improve student behavior and academic skills.

Professional Growth & Responsibility

  • Participate in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
  • Maintain good profession rapport with colleagues
  • Take advantage of professional in-service opportunities
  • Participate in school and district committees
  • Is Punctual for school and assigned duties
  • Follow school rules, board policies, and administrative directives
  • Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor with respect to school functions and activities.
  • Supports positive relationships with parents.
