Are you ready to make a real difference in a child's life? Dive into after-school adventures with Discovery Centers in Rapid City! For K-5 students, we offer a structured yet fun space to reinforce classroom skills. Grades 6-12 can join our vibrant Club-style programs to explore new passions and make new friends.

Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. BHSSC is comprised of five divisions dedicated to aiding school districts, individuals, and the communities. BHSSC is seeking an energetic, creative Instructional Assistant who is passionate about education and mentorship.

Wage

  • $15.29 per hour

Job Type

  • Part-Time, Non-Exempt
  • Expected hours: 20 per week
  • Mon-Fri, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (One Early Release Friday per month - 1:00pm-6:00pm). We follow the Rapid City Area School District calendar.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement activities as requested by Site Coordinator.
  • Develop activities as identified or requested by the Site Coordinator.
  • Monitor students and implement appropriate behavior management strategies.
  • Engage students in positive, age-appropriate interactions. Staff will be positive role models, guiding students towards positive life choices.
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff training events.
  • Complete assigned duties, including daily program set up, recess duty, janitorial duties, and clean up.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 14+ years old
  • Must pass a background check
  • Work study from SDSMT, NAU, WDT, and BHSU welcome
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds on occasion and bend, stoop, and kneel occasionally.
