SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a paraprofessional position responsible for supporting the operations of the SFA Charter School within and outside of the classroom. Responsible for providing instructional/classroom support and clerical/administrative support by assisting teachers in daily duties and responsibilities. Works under close supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Superintendent/Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework in education or a related field is preferred.
No direct experience is required. Experience working with children is preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Provides instructional/classroom support and clerical/administrative support by assisting teachers in daily duties and responsibilities.
  2. Assists with assessments and interventions.
  3. Supervises, interacts with, and provides individual support and assistance to children, ensuring their needs are met.
  4. Assists in developing, coordinating, and supervising student learning and materials.
  5. Maintains, distributes, collects, and organizes classroom materials and supplies.
  6. Creates, maintains, and updates student documents, records, and files.
  7. Assists in scoring assignments and recording students' scores.
  8. Records and monitors daily attendance.
  9. Supervises and serves as a positive model for university teacher candidates.
  10. Completes accident reports as needed.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. May clean classroom during school breaks.
  2. May assist in cleaning playground.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university and departmental policies and procedures.
  2. Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet and word processing software and the internet.
  3. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  5. Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  6. Ability to work effectively and patiently with children.
  7. Ability to deliver specific instruction for children in their classroom.
  8. Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
  9. Ability to operate equipment such as copy machine, thermometer, laminator, and binding machine.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
Work schedule is Monday - Friday 187 days per year per school calendar.
