Job description

Description:

The Product Manager of Modular Data Center Infrastructure (Power & Cooling) will lead the strategy, product development, roadmap, and lifecycle management for Prefabricated Power Modules and Cooling. This role is ideal for a product leader who thrives at the intersection of electrical power, thermal systems, and modular infrastructure - and who wants to shape the future of rapidly deployable data-center platforms.

Partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and other Product Managers, this position defines what Hyper builds, how it is architected, and how it scales, ensuring solutions meet performance, compliance, serviceability, and customer requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for prefabricated power modules and integrated cooling systems.
  • Translate customer, market, and Sales requirements into clear product definitions, system architectures, and scalable configurations.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across electrical and mechanical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams.
  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through launch, including requirements definition, design reviews, and readiness activities.
  • Define serviceability, maintainability, and field-replaceable strategies for cooling systems within modular pods.
  • Own compliance and certification strategy for cooling and integrated power systems.
  • Define documentation required for field inspection, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
  • Serve as the primary product owner and escalation point for modular power and cooling solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, and evolving data center requirements to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Support Sales pursuits with technical positioning, solution definition, and early-stage customer engagement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other Product Managers to ensure portfolio alignment and platform standardization.
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning activities, and post-launch product feedback.
  • Drive continuous improvement of product definition, configuration tools, and lifecycle processes.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, product engineering, or applications engineering within data center, electrical, or critical-infrastructure environments, including at least 2 years in a Product Manager role.
  • Strong understanding of data center power distribution systems and core cooling concepts.
  • Experience leading complex hardware products through full lifecycle and NPI processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, system layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with prefabricated or modular data center infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, ASHRAE, and other relevant electrical and thermal standards.
  • Background working with hyperscale, colocation, or data centers.

Why Hyper?

At Hyper, youโ€™ll help shape the next generation of modular, rapidly deployable data center infrastructure, integrating power and cooling into scalable platforms that accelerate deployment and improve reliability. Youโ€™ll work across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to build products that directly impact how critical facilities are designed and delivered.

In addition to competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage and a 401(k) with company match, Hyper offers the opportunity to influence a high-growth product portfolio and play a visible role in defining the future of mission-critical infrastructure.

Location

Onsite in Richmond, VA, or remote depending on candidate location and business needs.

Compensation

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
