    Job Summary: The Outside Sales Representative is primarily responsible for promoting and selling construction materials and services to existing and prospective contractor customers for residential and commercial projects. We are looking for a dependable candidate with good communication skills and a drive to excel.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Learn company products, procedures, culture and customer service philosophy.
    • Learn proper procedures for orders, special orders, purchase orders, credit memo’s and receiving.
    • Develops relationships with existing and potential customers through personal and phone contact, ensuring completion of plan take-offs, bids and quotes, answering questions and solving problems.
    • Prepares and presents accurate sales proposals and quotes to prospective or current customers.
    • Maximizes the number of sales for existing market areas.
    • Provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times. 
    • Research and provide accurate information to customers regarding proper materials and prices as well as technical information regarding application and specifications.
    • Performs job-site visits to ensure delivery and timely completion.
    • Ensures all projects generate appropriate profit margins to justify sale.
    • Coordinates all deliveries and credit pick-ups with yard dispatcher.
    • Attends activities and functions as a representative of company.
    • Develops process to track progress of customers' projects and monitors progress.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • The Outside Sale Representative – Lumber Sales reports directly to the Branch Manager.
    • The Outside Sales Representative – Lumber Sales does not have any direct reports.
    Desired Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications: 
    • Must have sales and industry experience.
    • Must be comfortable initiating contact with potential customers to generate new business.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Experience with BisTrack, BlueBeam, MiTek, and Hub Spot preferred.
    • Some knowledge of construction industry and local building codes preferred.
    • Previous sales experience preferred.
    • Ability to read plans and truss layouts.
    • Construction background a plus.
    • Current driver’s license, current automobile insurance and good driving record.
    • Self-starter with a great attitude and willingness to help others.
    • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales.
    • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs.
    • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback.
    • Must be professional, personable, and detail oriented. 
    • May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 lbs.
    • Occasionally may be required to walk throughout the yard, production environment or a job site to perform some aspect of assigned duties.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States with no current or future need of assistance for sponsorship from an Employer.
