Salary: 20.00

Position Overview

The Lumber Assistant supports the daily operations of the Lumber Warehouse by

assisting with the preparation, staging, handling, and organization of raw materials

used in production. This role works closely with the Lumber Supervisor, Senior

Lumber Assistants, and other team members to ensure materials are accurately

prepared, inventoried, and delivered to production in a safe and efficient manner.

The Lumber Assistant plays a key role in maintaining organized inventory,

supporting production needs, and ensuring that reSAWNs material standards are

upheld.

General Requirements


Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


Ability to read and write English


Understanding of basic math and measurement


Ability to use a tape measure and other basic industry tools


Ability to work well within a team environment


Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs


Ability to kneel, bend, twist, push, and perform physical tasks as required


Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (i.e. 8 hours or more)


Ability to follow safety procedures and warehouse protocols

Key Responsibilities

Material Preparation


Use basic industry tools to prepare raw materials for Production


Assist with staging materials based on production needs and work orders


Safely and accurately cut lumber using equipment such as a radial arm saw
Inventory & Material Handling


Proactively assist Senior Lumber Assistants and the Lumber Supervisor with

handling and staging physical inventory


Perform inventory counts and assist with Inventory Checks


Use basic math and measurement techniques to ensure accurate material

quantities


Help maintain accurate inventory records when checking material in or out


Ability to learn and effectively operate forklifts to assist in material

movement and staging

Quality & Material Standards


Review work orders to ensure materials are prepared accurately


Grade lumber according to industry standards and reSAWN internal

standards


Identify and flag defects or inconsistencies in lumber prior to production

Logistics & Shipping Support


Assist the Driver with strapping and preparing the truck for deliveries


Help stage materials for outgoing deliveries or internal transfers

Warehouse Organization


Build pallets to support the storage and handling of raw materials


Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse workspace


Assist with general warehouse upkeep and organization of lumber inventory
