ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Accurately shelves returned items (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.)
  • Maintains orderly appearances of shelves
  • Performs shelf reading
  • Carries out other duties and special projects, as assigned
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • People skills-ability to work effectively with others and enjoy it
  • Experience providing extraordinary customer service
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively
  • Ability to understand and retain detailed instructions

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

  • Job allows for variance in work routine, requiring considerable amounts of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and sitting
  • Strenuous activity required, such as carrying bags or boxes of books, or arranging rooms for events and classes

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Works under the direction of a Customer Service Supervisor
  • 2 vacancies currently at the Savage Branch in Laurel, MD
  • On-call, hourly, unbenefited position
  • Works up to 10 hours per week; days, evenings, and weekends
