Job description

Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) is a faith-inspired humanitarian and development organization committed to saving lives and empowering communities around the world. With programs spanning emergency response, food security, education, clean water, and more, IRUSA reaches millions of people annually across dozens of countries. Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area, IRUSA operates a full-scale marketing and communications department that drives donor engagement, brand stewardship, and multi-channel fundraising across the organization's entire portfolio.

Position Summary:

The Multimedia Content Manager leads IRUSA's multimedia storytelling across all channels, directing video production, photography, motion graphics, and the organization's digital content library. This role brings IRUSA's humanitarian mission to life through compelling visual content, capturing field stories domestically and internationally, managing the organization's video presence on digital platforms, and directing the work of the external marketing agency partner's creative teams. The Multimedia Content Manager combines creative vision with operational rigor, able to lead a production, direct a field shoot, and maintain an organized asset library with equal competence.

Key Responsibilities:Multimedia Production & Direction
  • Direct the creation of multimedia and audiovisual content, including video production and editing, photography, motion graphics, and short-form social content.
  • Plan and execute field coverage for events, national tours, and humanitarian programs, including domestic and international travel to program locations.
  • Provide photo and video guidance and coaching to staff and volunteers for effective field capture.
  • Collaborate with the external marketing agency partner's creative team to align multimedia production with campaign strategy and creative direction.
  • Manage the organization's video channels (e.g., YouTube) and multimedia presence across platforms, ensuring consistent, brand-aligned content that drives engagement.
  • Research and apply current multimedia tools, formats, and platform best practices to keep IRUSA's content innovative and competitive.
  • Coordinate with the digital marketing team to ensure multimedia content is optimized for the appropriate platform, format, and audience.
Digital Asset Library & Content Operations
  • Own the digital asset library and content database, establishing standards for cataloging, tagging, storage, and reuse of assets across the organization.
  • Manage multimedia project timelines and deliverables through the marketing request workflow in ClickUp.
  • Ensure all multimedia content follows the Islamic Relief brand guide and required review and approval protocols, including any additional approvals for sensitive content.
Brand & Mission Alignment
  • Ensure all multimedia content reflects IRUSA's organizational values, brand identity, and mission-driven voice.
  • Handle sensitive content, including footage of disaster-affected communities and vulnerable populations, with discretion, cultural competency, and respect for the dignity of those depicted.
Qualifications and Compentencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in film, multimedia, communications, marketing, or a related field required at a minimum; equivalent portfolio experience considered.
  • 4+ years of multimedia and video production experience, with a strong portfolio in videography, editing, and photography.
  • Embraces and exhibits Islamic Relief values (excellence, compassion, sincerity, custodianship, social justice) in character, professionalism, and work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign) and related multimedia tools.
  • Experience managing a content or digital asset library and video channels such as YouTube.
  • Strong storytelling, visual, and brand sensibility, with acute attention to detail.
  • Exhibits sound decision-making and requires minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding project-, process-, time-management, and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and ClickUp.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, at times to challenging environments.
  • Flexibility in work schedule (evenings and weekends as necessary).

  • At least two years working in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Experience with international field or documentary production in humanitarian or development contexts.

Within six months, the Multimedia Content Manager will have meaningfully improved the organization's content library standards, contributed original field or studio content to at least one major campaign, and established a reliable production workflow that keeps multimedia deliverables on time and on brand. Over the long term, the Multimedia Content Manager will be the creative visual voice of IRUSA, a storyteller who brings the organization's humanitarian mission to life in ways that inspire donors, engage communities, and honor the dignity of the people IRUSA serves.
